Lisboa E-Nova, in partnership with the Lisbon City Council, has joined the Students Reinventing Cities competition launched by C40, a network of major cities around the world committed to fighting climate change.
This competition challenges students and universities from around the world to share their vision for a more sustainable and inclusive urban future by presenting proposals to transform urban areas into green and sustainable neighborhoods.
This year there are 12 cities that have joined. For each city a winning project will be found.
In the city of Lisbon, Lisboa E-Nova, as part of the European project HUB-IN, has selected the Mouraria neighborhood, a historic and multi-cultural district as the territory to be explored by the competitors.
Students should propose ideas to improve the sustainability of Mouraria while preserving its identity in these particular areas
i) natural solutions for public spaces that help to reduce the heat island effect and the impacts of heat waves;
ii) water reuse and climate adaptation projects that promote circularity;
iii) and initiatives that empower local communities and use art as a vehicle for climate awareness and the adoption of a more sustainable lifestyle.

Urban expedition to feel and discover Mouraria neighborhood: 10. 15 to 13 h
It will include:
a tour by Mouraria
a talk at Centro de Inovação da Mouraria
a visit to Fab Lab of Lisbon
During the talk we will ignite a conversation about Climate Action context in Lisbon and the specific challenges of the area.
