The CEMOWAS2 project: Circular and eco-systematic management of organic waste and waste water aimed at reinforcing the capacities of the authorities responsible for implementing participative, sustainable territorial strategies through a management that is in line with the systemic approaches of the circular economy of solid and liquid waste management services.
CEMOWAS2 aimed to strengthen the capacities of the authorities responsible for implementing participatory and sustainable territorial strategies through management that is consistent with the systemic approaches of the circular economy of solid and liquid waste management services.
The project made it possible to build management strategies and demonstrate the feasibility of concrete solutions for organic waste and wastewater. These models were optimized and transferred from one territory to another in order to achieve a higher level of environmental quality in the use of resources and, consequently, in the protection of the natural heritage of the areas included in this initiative.
Lisboa E-Nova promoted two demonstrative actions on recycled water and waste, in the area of Parque das Nações, covering the re-use of treated waste water for irrigating green spaces and the topic of organic waste compost in school canteens that have kitchen gardens.
The Project also had the following associated Portuguese partners: Agência Portuguesa do Ambiente, Câmara Municipal de Lisboa (Lisbon City Council), Junta de Freguesia do Parque das Nações (Parque das Nações Civil Parish), Associação Nacional de Municípios Portugueses (National Association of Portuguese Municipalities), Águas do Tejo Atlântico and SIMARSUL.
